Homewood Residents / Public Works

Leaf Collection

Seasonal Pickup (Oct. 1 to Feb. 29)

- The leaf vacuum truck will operate weekdays except on town- observed holidays.
- No work order is required.
- Between October 1 and February. 29, the leaf vacuum truck routinely will follow a specific route collection schedule unless inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances cause delays.
- Leaves must be piled within 2 feet of the curb.
- Leaf piles must be free of trash and debris (including sticks and limbs).
- Leaves should not be placed where they may interfere with traffic or water drainage.

**DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE GUTTER OR STORM SEWER OR CAUSE THEM TO FLOW INTO THE STORM SEWER!**
- Leaves should not block sidewalks, fire hydrants or cover water meters.

Non-seasonal Pickup (March 1 to Oct. 1)

- Between March 1 and Oct. 1, the leaf vacuum truck will not operate.
- During this period, residents may notify Public Works of collection needs for leaf and/or grass clippings by placing a work order.
- Leaf collected during this time must be placed at the curb in bags.
- Bags must not contain trash and other debris (including sticks and limbs).
- Bags must be within 2 feet of the curb to be collected.
- Bags should not be placed where they may interfere with traffic or water drainage.
- Bags should not block sidewalks, fire hydrants or cover water meters.

It takes approximately five to six weeks to complete a pass from one side of the City to the other. If your leaves do not comply with the policy, they will not be collected. If your leaves are not at the curb and ready for pick up they will not be collected and you will have to wait until the next truck route down your street.

Call the Public Works main number at 942-4028 to see what neighborhood the leaf vacuum trucks are currently working. This information is updated weekly.
