Finance Highlights 03/18/24 1. Committee heard a report from Council President Alex Wyatt about the petition that is now in circulation that needs to have enough signatures to then have a referendum to consider changing the form of government in Homewood. He stated the latest they could have the referendum would be August. He also advised councilors they are able to provide their opinion on this matter as a citizen, but the city can't spend tax-payer money to advertise in any way about the petition or the referendum. Amwaste Update
    07 Mar, 2024
The Finance committee approved a $235k budget amendment to work with Tyler Technologies to provide an online civic access permitting portal that provides a paperless plan review and permitting system. The current software used by the building permits/inspections department and zoning board is outdated and no longer supported, prompting the city to seek a modern system for a seamless paperless workflow connecting all city services online. This financial commitment is a significant step towards modernizing city operations while enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in handling permits, inspections, and zoning matters. The new system is designed to offer streamlined workflows, seamless integration of data, and enhanced communication channels including the ability for city staff from various departments to review documents and provide feedback through a civilian access portal and virtual plan review environment. This item will be voted on by the full council March 11, 2024. Watch the full committee video below that offers more details and the presentation from Tyler Technologies.
